About the Role

Poke Ltd is looking for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Accountant to oversee the organisation’s accounting operations and maintain strong financial controls.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, statutory compliance, payroll, budgeting, reconciliations and day-to-day financial operations. Beyond keeping the books, we are looking for someone who can provide useful financial insights that support better business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organisation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and other financial reports.
Monitor cash flow, income, expenditure, receivables and payables.
Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts and expenditure against approved budgets.
Manage bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Oversee invoicing, payment processing, expense claims and vendor payments.
Manage payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely statutory deductions and remittances.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax, accounting and regulatory requirements.
Prepare relevant tax and statutory returns and maintain proper supporting documentation.
Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors, consultants, banks and other financial stakeholders.
Monitor financial controls and identify gaps, risks or unusual transactions.
Track project and client-related income and expenses where applicable.
Provide management with financial analysis, reports and insights to support business decisions.
Maintain proper financial documentation and ensure transactions are adequately authorised and supported.
Review financial processes and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy and accountability.
Support management with financial planning and other finance-related projects as required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field. Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and financial controls. Good understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory compliance requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong analytical and numerical skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and manage confidential financial information. Good communication and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. ICAN certification or relevant professional qualification is an added advantage. Experience working in an advertising, creative, media, professional services or similar environment is an added advantage.
