Winning new business
Build and manage the full sales pipeline, from prospecting and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and close
Identify and pursue new clients that are a strong fit for Poke’s services
Lead or support client pitches and proposal development
Build a strong, active list of target accounts and keep it updated
Bring in new retainers and partnerships that grow the business
Growing existing accounts
Manage commercial relationships with current clients
Look for opportunities to expand scope, add new services, or grow into new brands or markets
Run regular check-ins and business reviews with clients
Help keep strong clients strong by staying close to their needs and spotting issues early
Leading the BD team
Manage and support the two BD Managers
Set clear targets, review pipeline progress, and remove blockers
Build a team culture around follow-through, clear reporting, and strong client handling
Improving structure and reporting
Set up and maintain a reliable CRM process so all active opportunities are tracked properly
Keep proposals, contracts, pitch materials, and client history organised and easy to access
Report weekly on pipeline status, deals in progress, deals closed, and expected revenue
Work with leadership and finance to track commercial performance clearly
Strengthening Poke’s market presence
Help shape how Poke presents itself to potential clients
Improve credentials, case studies, and sales materials
Build useful partnerships that can open new revenue opportunities
Stay close to market trends, competitor activity, and client needs
What We’re Looking For
7–12 years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or commercial roles
At least 3 years in a senior or leadership role
Clear track record of winning and growing client accounts
Strong understanding of sales processes, customer acquisition strategies, and revenue optimisation
Excellent leadership and team management capabilities with experience building and scaling high-performing teams
Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term objectives with long-term business goals
Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Proven track record of developing profitable partnerships and expanding market presence
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field (MBA preferred)
Able to work across teams and move opportunities forward internally
Strong understanding of the Lagos business landscape, with a network that can help open doors
Experience in an agency, fintech, B2B services, media, communications, or oil and gas-facing commercial environment is a plus
