As a Technical Assessor, you'll evaluate software engineering candidates after they complete a practical coding exercise. Your responsibility is to determine whether a candidate meets our technical bar by reviewing their submission, conducting a structured technical interview, and documenting your findings using our assessment rubric.
This is a contract, pay-per-assessment role with flexible scheduling.
Review candidates' technical submissions before the assessment call.
Verify that submissions meet the exercise requirements and can be run successfully.
Conduct structured technical review sessions over video.
Ask candidates to explain and defend their technical decisions.
Assess problem-solving ability, code quality, architecture, testing, scalability, and software engineering fundamentals.
Evaluate candidates' understanding of their own code rather than testing memorized knowledge.
Complete Betternship's standardized scorecard with clear, evidence-based justifications for every rating.
Recommend whether a candidate should proceed to the client interview.
Submit assessment results within the agreed turnaround time.
Participate in occasional calibration sessions to ensure consistency across assessors.
Maintain confidentiality of all candidate and client information.
